Nearly 1,400 people showed up wearing their finest for the 25th annual Carousel Fund Casino Night benefit.

?The room was filled with generosity, gratitude and hope,? said the Carousel Fund?s Arnie Cohen.

All told, the event raised about $211,000 dollars, he said.

Cohen emphasized that the money raised stays in Petaluma to help local families that have a child who is suffering from a serious illness.

The event featured live auctions, casino gambling, wine tasting and ?rocking? performances by Jefferson Starship and The Family Stone. It was all made possible by the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, Cohen said.

The night also included a special appearance by the Petaluma National Little League team and their coach, Eric Smith.

The team offered their coach?s jersey, which they had signed, as an auction item. It raised almost $4,000, which the team decided to donate back to the Carousel Fund.

?We?re just full of gratitude to the community that cares about families trying to keep their kids alive,? Cohen said. ?We?ve never had to turn a family away because of lack of funds.?
